Program 2026
8-13 years old, 13-18 years old

The Surf Sail Kite Wing Camps are intensive weekly courses in windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing and wingfoil designed for boys and girls aged 8–13 and 13–17, and suitable for all experience levels, from beginners to advanced, in accordance with the programmes and regulations of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV).

Each participant chooses one of the four disciplines and focuses on it continuously throughout the week, with the goal of achieving the greatest possible progression in a short time. The Camp is structured as a true full-immersion sports experience, where priority is given to time on the water.

The remaining free time becomes an opportunity to have fun and socialise through a wide range of activities (adapted to the two age groups) that we have refined over 26 years of experience:

  • playful and educational land- and water-based activities such as the FIV Giocosport sailing method, coordination development exercises, circuit training and water relays

  • recreational activities such as SUP, canoe and bike excursions, educational treasure hunts and skill workshops

  • theory sessions including learning through games, seamanship skills and video analysis of on-water activity

Our aim is that the Camp, beyond its strong technical focus on the chosen sport, becomes for every participant a meaningful, dynamic, enjoyable and educational experience.

We have the best equipment in all sizes and in quantities sufficient to ensure that each participant has their own gear throughout the Camp: 100 boards from 70 to 260 liters, 100 sails from 0.8 to 9.0, 6 hydrofoils.
Thanks to the experience gained in 26 years of camps, as well as 39 years of teaching, we train surfers of all levels, from beginners to funboarders, with the opportunity to join our competitive team.
We place no limits on progression: as soon as possible, participants move to the next level.
Up to 3 water sessions per day to make the most of the wind.

SAIL CAMP

The activity takes place only on dynamic boats, dinghies. We have a modern fleet made up of Laser Bug, Open Bic, Laser Pico, RS Zest, Laser Bahia, RS Quest.
Each participant can improve both in single-handed and double-handed sailing.
Thanks to the experience gained in 26 years of camps as well as 33 years of teaching, we train sailors who are technically well-prepared to approach the world of racing or simply to become skilled sailors.
The light wind in the morning and strong wind in the afternoon make the experience more complete.

WING CAMP

The Tabo spot is perfect for learning and perfecting wingfoiling. The large shallow area and the side-on wind make wingfoiling easier, allowing for take-off and return from the shore, and accelerate progression.
Thanks to 39 years of windsurfing teaching, 9 years of experience in the world of Foil, and the use of Efoils, we have developed an exclusive teaching method that allows you to reach the flying phase on the foil safely and quickly.
The modern equipment fleet meets everyone’s needs: boards from 50 to 200 liters, wings from 1.5 to 7.0, foils from 500 to 2400.

AIMS

The primary goal of the Camp is to learn or further develop water sports skills in direct contact with nature, sharing the experience with peers who have the same passion for the water and sport.

With careful attention to individual objectives, the Tabo Surf Center staff is committed to enabling each participant to:

  • learn correct navigation technique

  • become autonomous in windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing or wingfoil

  • develop seamanship and water confidence

  • understand the wind and learn how to use it effectively

  • socialise and collaborate with fellow participants

A distinctive feature of our Camps — also applied in our year-round courses — is unlimited progression: both beginners and experienced participants are guided without predefined limits, with instructors supporting each individual toward the highest achievable level and, when appropriate, advancing them to the next stage.

LEVELS

The Camp is designed both for complete beginners and for participants who already have experience in the various disciplines.

Throughout the day, water activities are organised in level-based groups according to wind conditions and participants’ skills. Children and teenagers from the four disciplines — windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing and wingfoil — share all Camp activities, except for their specific technical sessions on the water.

SAILING & WINDSURF GIOCOSPORT

(for beginners aged 8–13)

In line with the guidelines of CONI and the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), younger beginners (ages 8–13) follow the Giocosport method — an educational approach that introduces sailing and windsurfing through play and direct experience.

At this stage, performance is not the focus; instead, priority is given to the natural acquisition of correct technique, enjoyment and group interaction.
Giocosport is today considered one of the most effective and advanced methods for introducing young people to sailing sports, and Tabo Surf Center has developed extensive expertise in its application over 26 years of Camp experience.

WINDSURF RACING TRAINING

For participants already involved in the Tabo Techno 293 racing team, the Camp provides an opportunity to intensify training and continue their competitive pathway.

For those who have the required technical level but have not yet joined the team, the Camp offers the chance to approach the racing world and try youth boards recognised by the Italian Sailing Federation.

INTERNATIONAL CAMP

The Camps are open to both Italian and international participants, with a particularly strong international presence during the last weeks of July.
This environment naturally offers children and teenagers the opportunity to meet peers from different countries and to use English in real-life communication situations.

Technical lessons in windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing and wingfoil are conducted in Italian for Italian participants and in English for participants of other nationalities. During group life and shared activities, however, spontaneous and guided opportunities for interaction in English are encouraged, without recreating a classroom setting.

The Camp thus becomes a cultural exchange experience and a natural approach to the English language within a sporty, dynamic and informal environment — valuable both for those who already speak English confidently and for those who only have basic knowledge.

THE CENTER AND THE STAFF

Tabo Surf Center specializes in water sports — windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing and wingfoil — and is equipped with modern, high-quality equipment, including gear specifically designed for children and teenagers.
The quality of instruction is ensured by a highly qualified team of instructors who share a strong passion for youth training and are specialized in teaching participants aged 6–18.

The two head instructors hold top-level qualifications: a degree in Sports Science, Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) Level II and III Instructor certifications, FIV Trainer-Instructor certification, and VDWS and IKO instructor licenses.

To guarantee safety, participants are supervised in all activities by the technical staff and a dedicated educator; for residential participants, the educator is present 24 hours a day.

TABO BASE IN GERA: A SAFE SPORTS ENVIRONMENT

The Tabo Surf Center spot in Gera Lario is particularly well suited for youth multisport activities in maximum safety conditions.

The center is located within a lakeside green area of approximately 40,000 sqm, featuring football, beach volleyball, basketball and tennis facilities. The water area in front of the base offers ideal learning conditions: sandy bottom, shallow water (around 1 meter deep) up to 60 meters from shore, and a naturally sheltered sailing area protected by three shorelines. These characteristics make the spot especially safe for children and beginners.

Safety on the water is ensured not only by mandatory equipment but also by the constant presence of safety and rescue boats.

During the day, activities take place outdoors in the Tabo Surf Center area and in the waters in front of the base; in case of bad weather they continue under shelter on the Club terrace.

THE EQUIMPENT

Tabo Surf Center is equipped with the most modern water sports equipment available on the market.

WINDSURF
100 RRD boards and 120 RRD sails, including the latest models for all levels from beginner to funboard. A wide range of youth sails starting from 0.8 m² ensures perfectly sized equipment for younger sailors. BIC Techno 293 boards are also used to introduce participants to youth racing classes recognized by the Italian Sailing Federation.

SAILING
Our fleet meets every training need, from single-handed dinghies to double-handed and crew boats. Available boats include: Laser Bug, Open Bic, Laser Pico, Laser STD, Laser Bahia, Laser Dart 16, RS Zest and RS Quest.

KITESURF & WINGFOIL
A complete range of modern RRD boards, kites and wings in all sizes is available to suit every rider and all wind conditions.

CANOE & SUP
A large fleet of single and double canoes, rigid and inflatable SUP boards, and inflatable MegaSUPs completes the equipment of Tabo Surf Center.

ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

ACCOMMODATION
Participation in the Camp is available in two formats:
day camp (9:15–17:30 or 19:30) or 24-hour residential camp, from Sunday evening to Saturday morning.

Overnight accommodation is provided in large 16-person group tents (“mega tents”) and, once capacity is reached, in individual tents. The tents are set up in a suitable area made available by the Municipality of Gera Lario, in the immediate vicinity of the Tabo Surf Center base.

During overnight stays, participants sleep together with the supervising educator, who is present throughout the night.

The mega-tent solution — tested over many years of Camp — has proven particularly suitable for the educational and sporting experience because it:

  • encourages social interaction and group life

  • maintains direct contact with nature

  • offers an original and engaging experience

Mega-tent features

  • modern inflatable structure

  • ground insulation and full waterproofing

  • maximum capacity: 16 participants

  • beds: camp beds (scout-style)

  • personal sleeping bag and pillow to be brought by participants

MEALS
Breakfast for residential (24H) participants is provided by the organization and served at the Tabo Surf Center in a covered area under the terrace.

Lunch for all participants takes place at the Tabo Surf Center in an open but sheltered space.
Day participants may either bring a packed lunch from home or request the lunch provided by the organization for an additional fee.
For 24H participants, lunch is always included.

The organization provides drinking water for all participants; each child must bring a personal water bottle labeled with their name.

Dinner, for 24H participants, is served at a partner restaurant reached by bicycle.
Each residential participant must therefore have a personal bicycle or one rented through Tabo.

Meals are simple, balanced and appropriate for sporting activity; any dietary needs, allergies or intolerances are managed upon family notification.

Note: The organization reserves the right to change the accommodation, breakfast or dinner location at its discretion if necessary, either before or during the Camp.

ADDED OPTION - E-FOIL

E-FOIL FOR EVERYONE

Since its inception, we have always believed in foiling as a complementary, not a replacement, to sailing sports. In fact, we have been teaching it for nine years. With the aim of making foiling easier to learn and giving everyone the opportunity to experience the sensation of flying on the water, we decided to introduce it as an activity for all Camp participants, regardless of their chosen sport (windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, wingfoiling). Thanks to our fleet of E-Foil boards (electric foils) and our support boats, we are able to teach a large number of students, taking advantage of the windless, flat water in the early morning. It is the best activity for quickly and safely learning to foil, perfecting a type of balance that can only be tested with this tool. The first lesson is included in the Camp fee for everyone and for all age groups. For those who choose the Wing Camp, two lessons are included.

Those wishing to progress and add lessons during the Camp beyond the scheduled one can request it as an optional extra. Each additional lesson costs €66.

WHAT TO BRING

CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

For the “24H” mode including overnight stay:
Clothing in addition to normal seasonal and beach clothing: slippers, 2 beach towels or 1 bathrobe and a beach towel (and in addition a poncho is recommended to facilitate and speed up the change of clothes outdoors), sneakers, overalls, K -way, 1 heavy change (heavy sweatshirt, jacket), 1 backpack (for carrying daily change), at least 1 pant swimsuit for males (to wear under the wetsuit; boardshorts are only suitable when not wearing a wetsuit ), bath towels, hat (important for sailing activity) and sunglasses (at the discretion for windsurfing and kitesurfing, but important for sailing and the lesson on the ground of kiting). Everything must be contained in a bag.
necessary for accommodation and meals: sleeping bag, pillow, camping mat, mini torch (or camping torch), water bottle with name.

For the “daytime” mode (without overnight stay):
Clothing: Backpack with beach clothing and a change: slippers, 1 beach towel (and in addition a poncho is recommended to facilitate and speed up the change of clothes outdoors), sneakers, K-way, at least 1 swimsuit underpants for males (to wear under a wetsuit; boardshorts are only suitable when not wearing a wetsuit), hat and sunglasses (at the discretion of windsurfing and kitesurfing, but important for sailing ).

For everyone:
Technical clothing: for those who own them, wetsuit, harness, life jacket, shoes in a separate bag to be left at the Tabo. For those who do not have them, they are supplied by Tabo Surf Center included in the price. They will be assigned at the beginning of the course and must be returned at the end of the weekend.
Equipment: bicycle. It is necessary for who choose the overnight option as a means of transport to reach the restaurant faster.
For those who choose the daily Camp, the lack of the bicycle penalizes the participant as he will be excluded from any excursions organized during the week and games in which it is foreseen.
NB: For those who do not own it, a limited number of bikes are available that can be rented by paying an extra price and booking it, after checking availability, at the time of registration. For those who intend to rent the bike it is essential to book it in time.
